Digital payment platform Paxful has partnered with Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and the Bitcoin Foundation for the upcoming Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami. The three intend to sponsor a maximum of 500 people to the event in a wider drive to educate the local community about digital currencies.
Paxful shall help in distributing 500 free tickets for the event to local colleges and universities in an initiative to enhance financial knowledge to the underserved and minority communities in Miami.
Bitcoin 2022 Conference
The Bitcoin 2022 Conference is scheduled to take place between April 6 and April 9 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The conference’s agenda was made public on March 15.
At the moment, a general admission ticket for the conference is going for $899.
Notable speakers at the conference include Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, United States Senator Cynthia Lummis, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor, Cathie Wood of Ark Invest, and entrepreneur Peter Thiel. There shall also be dozens of other Bitcoin influencers, investors, and entrepreneurs who shall headline the event.
The ticket giveaway is being spearheaded by Venture Miami, a portfolio team assembled by the Mayor. Venture Miami’s main objective is to encourage innovation, job creation, and diversity in high-growth sectors like information technology.
Mayor Suarez has taken it upon himself to root for BTC adoption in his second term in office. He already receives a portion of his salary in BTC after announcing last December that he would start taking part of his salary in bitcoin.
Suarez has also set up a program facilitated by the MiamiCoin cryptocurrency that allows Miami residents to earn Bitcoin dividends. The MiamiCoin cryptocurrency project also helps fund municipal projects through the generated yields. As of January 2022, it had generated in excess of $21 million in yields.
